Lawn programs

What every program visit includes

Whatever the tier, you get the same care in the same order, and a log at the end.

  • Fertilizer

Rounds timed to the season and to the local rule.

  • Weed control

Before weeds come up and after, with the product named in your log.

  • A look at the lawn

Color, thickness, thin spots and anything that looks wrong.

  • A visit log

The date, the product type, the re-entry time and what we saw.

The grass comes first

Warm-season grass has its own calendar

St. Augustine, Bermuda, zoysia and centipede grow hardest in the heat and rest in winter. That is the opposite of the northern lawns most advice is written for.

We feed in spring and fall, hold back in the restricted summer months and watch for weeds all year. If your grass is not what you think it is, we say so at the first visit.

What we see most

  • St. Augustine: wide flat blades, thick runners

  • Bermuda: fine blades, needs full sun

  • Zoysia and centipede: slower growers

What decides the price

What moves the price per visit

The tiers set the work. These four things set the price.

  • Lot size

We measure the turf, not the whole property.

    • Square feet of lawn

  • Grass and shade

Shady lawns grow slowly and thin out.

    • Grass type

    • Hours of sun

  • Access

Gates, fences, dogs and slopes add time.

    • Gate width

    • Slope

  • Starting condition

A lawn full of weeds needs more at the start.

    • Weeds and bare spots

Questions

Questions about lawn programs

What about kids and pets after a visit?

Follow the product label's re-entry time. Every visit log lists the product type and its re-entry time, and we tell you when to keep children and pets off the lawn.

What if it rains, or a freeze comes?

A visit washed out by rain moves to the next dry day, and your calendar updates. In the summer rainy season, fertilizer follows the rule where you live. After a hard freeze we hold fertilizer until the lawn shows new growth.

Which grass do I have?

Most Jacksonville lawns are St. Augustine, with some Bermuda, zoysia and centipede. St. Augustine has wide, flat blades and thick runners; Bermuda has finer blades. We confirm the grass at the first visit and write it in your log.

Can I change tiers or cancel?

Yes. Move up or down, or cancel, by phone or email before your next visit. You pay for the visits already made and nothing more.
