Pest and disease

What we look for in a warm-season lawn

Most lawn trouble in Northeast Florida is one of these six. Each one leaves a different sign.

  • Chinch bugs

Yellow-brown patches in full sun, often along pavement.

  • Sod webworms

Chewed blades and small moths at dusk.

  • Mole crickets

Tunnels and a spongy feel underfoot.

  • White grubs

Turf that lifts like a carpet.

  • Large patch

Round patches in cool, wet weather.

  • Weeds

Sedge, dollarweed and crabgrass each need their own product.

Scout first

We scout first and treat what we find

A yellow patch can be an insect, a fungus, a dry spot or a sprinkler that misses. We look before we spray, so you do not pay for a treatment the lawn does not need.

Insect and fungus treatments are part of Pro and Elite. On Essential we tell you what we see and quote the treatment separately.

In your log

  • Every treatment is entered in your visit log

  • Follow the label's re-entry time for children and pets

  • We tell you what to watch for between visits

Questions

Questions about treatments

What about kids and pets after a visit?

Follow the product label's re-entry time. Every visit log lists the product type and its re-entry time, and we tell you when to keep children and pets off the lawn.

What happens at the estimate?

A lead walks the yard with you, or measures from a map if you prefer. We note the grass type, the shade, the sprinklers and the trouble spots, then send a written quote with your program, your visit dates and your price per visit.

What if it rains, or a freeze comes?

A visit washed out by rain moves to the next dry day, and your calendar updates. In the summer rainy season, fertilizer follows the rule where you live. After a hard freeze we hold fertilizer until the lawn shows new growth.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Our Florida pesticide license, our fertilizer certification and our liability insurance are listed in the footer and in the credentials section, and your quote carries the numbers. Ask for the insurance certificate and we send it.

Have a patch that looks wrong?

Send your ZIP code and a note about where it is. We will tell you what we would look for.
