Sod and renovation
When sod is the better answer
Warm-season grass spreads by runners, so small patches often fill in on their own. Large bare areas need sod.
Spot sod
Cut squares for bare patches the lawn will not fill.
Full replacement
Old turf out, grade fixed, new sod down.
Sprinkler check first
New sod fails fast if the heads miss it.
The first weeks
New sod needs water more than anything
Fresh sod has no roots in your soil yet. It needs frequent watering at first, then less as the roots take hold. We leave a watering plan for your sprinklers and your calendar.
Your city or county may limit watering days. We write the plan inside those limits.
After the sod goes down
A watering plan written for your sprinklers
A first fertilizer visit after the roots hold
A check of the seams before we leave

Questions
Questions about sod
How soon can we start, and how long is a visit?
Your quote lists the date of the first visit. A visit on a typical suburban lot takes under an hour, and you do not need to be home.
What should I do before you arrive?
Mow at the height we advise, pick up toys and hoses, and leave the gate unlocked. Tell us if your sprinklers run on a timer so we can note the schedule.
What if it rains, or a freeze comes?
A visit washed out by rain moves to the next dry day, and your calendar updates. In the summer rainy season, fertilizer follows the rule where you live. After a hard freeze we hold fertilizer until the lawn shows new growth.
What does a program cost?
It depends on your lot size and the tier. The plans page shows what each program includes. Your written quote lists your lot size, your visit dates and your price per visit, so you can compare before you agree to anything.
